Some results of experimental investigations of fire tornadoes May 11th, 2012

admin

Results of experimental investigations of liquid fuel combustion in the regime of a twisted jet (model of a fire tornado)
are presented. To perform investigations, a stand equipped with measuring devices based on optical and thermal imaging methods
has been developed and manufactured. Dependences of the geometrical characteristics, heat flux, combustion rate, and frequencies
of maxima in the spectral function of the intensity fluctuations and in the centre of gravity of image of the laser beam that
has passed through the tornado on the twist velocity are determined.

Interaction of spin waves with dislocations in ferrodielectrics April 2nd, 2012

admin

It is demonstrated that the presence of dislocations in a ferromagnetic leads to localization of spin waves on it. The dispersion
equation is derived and investigated, and the dependence of the localized wave amplitude on the distance to a dislocation
is determined. The frequency interval separating the localized fluctuations from the volume ones is determined.

Band structure and thermodynamic potentials April 2nd, 2012

admin

The behavior of different thermodynamic functions of a system of delocalized electrons in a crystal is considered in the single-band
strong coupling approximation depending on the degree of energy band filling and temperature. The chemical potential, grand
thermodynamic potential, internal energy, free energy, entropy, and heat capacity are numerically calculated. Dependences
of these quantities on the electron concentration at high temperatures are investigated. Their limited energy spectrum leads
to the special features in the behavior of these quantities in comparison with the free electron gas.

Effect of deposition parameters on the superhardness and stoichiometry of nanostructured Ti–Hf–Si–N films April 2nd, 2012

admin

Superhard nanostructured Ti–Hf–Si–N coatings (films) possessing high physical and mechanical properties have been produced.
Nuclear and atomic physical analyses, such as RBS, SIMS, GDMS, SEM-EDXS, XRD, and nanoindentation were used to investigate
the elemental and phase composition and the morphology of the films as functions of the pressure in the chamber and of the
bias voltage applied to the substrate. It was observed that as the grain size in nc-(Ti, Hf)N coatings was decreased from
6.7 to 5

Temperature memory of the induced magnetic anisotropy April 2nd, 2012

admin

Methods of higher harmonics applied to study the effects associated with the induced magnetic anisotropy (IMA) of ferro- and
ferrimagnetic materials are considered. Physical processes causing the anisotropy and small value of these effects are analyzed.
It is demonstrated that the IMA can remember the pressure at which it was formed.

Absolute negative conductivity in zig-zag carbon nanotubes in the presence of a magnetic field April 2nd, 2012

admin

The volt-ampere and gauss-ampere characteristics of zig-zag carbon nanotubes are calculated at low temperatures based on the
average electron method. The characteristics obtained are analyzed as functions of the magnetic field strength. It is revealed
that a constant electric field can arise spontaneously in carbon nanotubes upon application of an alternating high-frequency
electric field. This effect can be due to the nonequilibrium electron subsystem of the carbon nanotubes.

Gradient multilayer tribilogical coatings based on Mo–S–Ti–C formed by hybrid ion-plasma methods April 2nd, 2012

admin

Mechanical, physical and tribological properties of layer-gradient multi-component coatings based on the Mo–S–Ti–C composition
are investigated. The coatings are formed by combining the magnetron sputtering and the hybrid magnetron and vacuum arc deposition
assisted by a gas plasma generator. A correlation is established between the physic mechanical and tribological properties
of the resulting coatings, which allows identifying their potential applications. The physical principles of the combined
technologies of lowtemperature ion-plasma deposition of tribological Mo–S–Ti–C coatings onto hardened steel machine parts
are developed.

Interference of the transient radiation fields produced by an electric charge and a magnetic moment April 2nd, 2012

admin

The conditions for the occurrence of interference of the transient radiation fields produced by an electric charge and a magnetic
moment are analyzed. The contribution of the transient radiation of a charge – magnetic moment system, depending on the orientation
of the magnetic moment, to the total output has been calculated for the case of a particle escaping from a titanium target
in vacuum for a photon energy of 454
